Check out our top ten tips to RE:ENERGISE your leadership team:
1. Give leaders dedicated time together to regroup, refocus and realign behind business priorities.
2. Listening programmes often get put in place for the wider organisation and it’s down to leaders to make the necessary changes to improve the culture. It’s rare that businesses take time to find out what their leaders need to be able to inspire and motivate their teams. Implement a listening programme just for them.
3. Make sure they are clear on the strategy, purpose and culture of the business – it can be refreshing to remind and reengage leaders with where you are going and who you are there to serve.
4. Take the data away! Data can be overwhelming and doesn’t always help with decision making. It’s the story behind the numbers that can help leaders take the right action. Tell that story to make decision-making faster and more straight forward.
5. Re-contract with leaders and their teams on how projects and initiatives get signed off and managed, so that leaders are involved in the right way at the right time. Giving teams autonomy and leaders time back.
6. Get them in front of customers, clients and the community your business supports. There’s nothing more inspiring and motivating than seeing and hearing first-hand how you are making an impact.
7. Help them understand the expectations of being a leader today. Be clear on what’s changed, taking the sting out of where and why they need to develop. Often leaders are continually asked to do more, but with little support or opportunities to develop.
8. Recognise the behaviours they display rather than the numbers they deliver.
9. Hold a projects amnesty to prioritise the things that will really have a business impact and drive growth. Stop anything that is not business critical, so efforts are streamlined and focused.
10. Upskill them to be better communicators and storytellers, strengthening their ability to engage and inspire their teams.
